This document verifies to the driver’s state government that they have auto insurance. Regulations vary state by state but a driver may need an SR22 if they have had: multiple traffic offenses, DUIs/DWIs or other serious moving violations, license suspension/revocation, or failure to maintain mandatory insurance coverage. SR(Safety Responsibility)-22s are also known as a Certificate of Financial Responsibility.
